The last blog I did was titled 2024 Update however I posted it in January of 2024 so it really wasn’t much of an update on 2024. lol. So this time I thought I would try doing it at the end of the year!
2025 has been an interesting year for sure with some very significant changes in my life. I am no longer working a 9-5 which is great and back playing and practicing guitar like my university days. This has also been very good for the site and making new material. Although video content, not so much and more on that in a moment.
I want to first back up a little and explain what happened in 2024. I had been writing a lot towards the end of 2023 and at the start of 2024 I wanted to create a challenge for myself. A 30 day challenge to write every day and create a short video of what I wrote and post it (TikTok, IG, YouTube Shorts). I had so much fun doing it that the 30 days turned into 100 days. I took a bit of a break and started it up again with a slight change to how I was doing it. The second time around I decided to just focus on one idea and turn it into a song. That song was or is to be called Stay or possibly Cannot Make You Stay. It was the most consistent writing I had done in a long time and it felt so good. Throughout my life writing and creating music has always made me feel my life was on the right path.
So much of what I was writing went into a new part of the site called All Things tripfuse (tripfuse is a band/writing project I started in 2004). This was done in part to share but also for myself to organize ideas. Joining the Limited Access Membership will get you access to that content.
Ok so that brings us to 2025 and life doing, well, what life does, brings the unexpected. My mother fell and broke her hip in January and well, I quit my 9-5 job, left my place and moved to help my mother and father. If it had just been the hip it would have healed however my mother was diagnosed with a degenerative disease and they needed help.
Life. I am grateful that I can help. I spend a good chunk of my day sitting with Mom playing a game called Wordscape. She loves it. And I play/practice my guitar while I sit with her and keep her company and help her with what she needs. The site is usually open as I use it myself to practice and because of this there are constant updates being made.
What happens next? I do not know. What I do know is I work to be present, enjoy the time I have left with my aging parents, play my guitar and continue to work on the site as much as I can.
And as far as writing and making videos again, well I am hoping I can find a way.
