Ex. 1 - Thumb and Index
Let's start with some very basic fingerpicking exercises. In the exercise to the right we are just going to go back and forth from our low open E string to our high open E. In this first part, let's just use our thumb on the low E and our index finger on the high E.

Ex. 2 - Thumb and Middle
Next up, let's try using thumb and middle finger to do the same exercises.

Ex. 3 - Alternate between Thumb and Index and Thumb and Middle
Now let's get into what we are going to be focused on to play Leyenda as far as the fingerpicking part is concerned. Let's go from thumb to index then thumb to middle.
