A Major and F# Minor in 2nd Position
An A Major chord or arpeggio would be built from the 1st, 3rd and 5th degree of an A Major scale.
A Major Scale:

A Major Chord or Arpeggio:
A C# E
An F# Minor chord or arpeggio would be built from the 6th degree of an A Major scale and consist of the notes:
F# A C#
F# Minor Arpeggio
