Lesson 10

Scales

F Major in Open, 2nd and 5th Position

Let's use our major scale formula and start on a F:

W W H W W W H

We get:

F G A Bb C D E F

The key of F major has one flat and that flat is Bb.  Its relative minor would be D minor.  Meaning D minor also has one flat and that is Bb.

Chords

Figuring it Out

F diatonic triads in root position on the staff

Pretty sure I am going with the diatonic triads in the Key of F major.

Root position on strings 2 3 4

Arpeggios

Dm Arpeggio in 5th Position

D minor arpeggio in 5th position

We first looked at a D minor arpeggio in Arpeggio Lesson 7 in 2nd position and we learned the notes of a Dm chord were:

D  F  A

Start first by playing it up and down starting on the D (5th fret of your A string) and then try starting on the low A.
