Feel So Close
This Calvin Harris dance tune has a cool guitar part!
This song has a cool chord progression with open chords and also has a cool guitar line.
This song is suggested after lesson 6. By that time in the lessons you will know the 4 chords (with the exception of Am7 - but it is easy) and each of these intervals would have been discussed.
- Intervals - M3, P4 and P5
- Alternate Picking
- Easy Chords

Measure 1 - The Perfect 4th Interval (P4)

The main riff starts with the interval of a perfect 4th. This interval sounds like the first two notes of Here Comes The Bride. It would be 5 half steps between the notes.
Measure 2 - The Major 3rd Interval (M3)

In measure two, we still have the G on the bottom but because the C dropped a half step to a B we now hear a major 3rd interval (M3). A major 3rd sounds like the first two notes of Oh When the Saints. There would be 4 half steps between the notes.
Measure 3 - The Perfect 5th Interval (P5)

In measure three, we hear the perfect 5th interval (P5). This is the interval in the power chord. Note a power chord is written as A5, C5, Bb5, etc. The distance between these two notes is now 7 half steps. A perfect 5th sounds like the first two notes of the Star Wars Theme.
Measure 4 - The Perfect 5th Interval (P5)

In measure four, we continue to hear the perfect 5th interval (P5). Note that the G is the same pitch G from measure 1 and 2. It is just played in a different spot on the neck.
Chord Progression
In the song the guitar is not playing chords, only the line above. However there is a piano playing these chords. They are all just held as whole notes for each measure. In other words, hit the chord and hold for 4 beats then hit the next chord.
If you want to play the same voicing (order of notes) as the piano you would play the bass note and only strings 2 and 3 for each. So you would want to use your thumb to play the bass notes and then index and middle to play strings 1 and 2.
You could also use hybrid picking, which would have you holding the pick and using it on the bass notes then using your middle and ring finger to play strings 1 and 2.
