What's My Age Again - Intro

Great string skipping exercise with intro and fun power chord strum pattern throughout!

Just want to see what this is going to look like with fretboard above the staff!

What's My Age Again

Difficulty: Intermediate

Video Time: 4:33

In this video you will learn how to play the intro to this great Blink 182 song called What's My Age Again. It is quick and involves string skipping. At this point not sure where this next video button would link to, the easier verse and chorus video or something entirely different. Not sure yet. For now I will link it to verse and chorus.

So here is the start of this fun riff.  The most important thing is to leave your ring finger and little finger down the entire time.  You can alternate pick it:

Or you can pick it like I do by going down down and then up up.

Remember do not lift your ring finger or little finger.  Just move your index finger from the 9th fret of the 5th string (F#) to the 9th fret of the 6th string (C#).

You may want to just practice moving this back and forth a few times.

The mp3 below is measure 1 at half speed repeated 8x:

The mp3 below is measure 1 at half speed repeated 4x but also has one measure rest in between.  This is good for giving the brain a chance to absorb the information!

I am still in need of a notation file to go with it.

The mp3 to the right is the whole intro at full speed.  The bass comes in where it is supposed to and the drums enter where they are supposed to.

Half Speed

Here is the intro riff by itself at half speed.  This will give you a chance to get it all together and make it smooth.  Then just work to increase the speed a little bit each day.
