After the four count, strum down on your D chord on beat 1 (try not to hit your low E and A strings). It is a dotted quarter note and will be held for 1 and 1/2 beats. Strum up after beat 2 with Dsus4. Good idea to start tapping along with your foot and getting used to strumming down when your foot goes down and strumming up when your foot goes up.
Listen below and it should make sense.
Just leave your 2nd finger on F#
(it won't sound because of the G).
