How we can use the diminished to substitute over the V
This is not related to the lesson above so much. However I just want to take a moment to look at some basic chord theory.
Major Chords are built with the 1st, 3rd and 5th degree of a major scale. Start by building a B major scale using the major scale formula: W W H W W W H
B C# D# E# F# G# A#
The B chord would be built with: B D# F#
We can turn a major chord into a minor chord by lowering the 3rd degree
The 3rd degree of a B major scale or a B major chord was D#. We will lower that one half step to a D. This will turn our B major chord into a B minor chord.
Bm would be: B D F#
We make a diminished chord by lowering the 3rd and 5th degree of a major scale or major chord.
Bdim would be: B D F

Lesson Ideas
Just some thoughts.
Lesson Ideas
Messing with some new ideas for building better, easier to use lessons.
Ideally I would like to have notation file and mp3 in the same tab with the fretboard graph
I have an idea:
What about the top video being a play through of the whole solo.
Then the smaller videos with the info in tab box is each individual breakdown.
This is good for a bunch of reasons:
- More content
- Easier to digest for people learning
- Easier to group into series
- Easier to make
